A panacea…

i felt the guilt
my page is blanked
no letters, no numbers
just plain white light

tapped the restless keys
in nearly three hours
nothing seemed to stay
all flew away

in between those moments
no story sneaked and buzzed
write anything, even abc
something will be at your door

it was not something, it’s
someone knocked from outside
can i borrow a thousand
the voice from outdoor barged in…

i was stripped of a thousand
like a blocked writer’s block
i became a lender, over stacked
a panacea, the keys worked, it’s luck?…

Falling stars…

stars are twinkling up in the sky
this month when clouds are less and dry
i don’t know why my eyes do cry
when i see some stars falling by

i tried catching them one by one
with my palm, it’s a lot of fun
but i catch nothing, then you’re gone
though you’re near and we’ve just begun

my emotions run wild and free
’cause the stars glide so let it be
lost in the space of destiny
leaving my heart bruised and empty

then one night angels came to me
said one, you come with me, hurry
catch that star, it’s falling on you
she’s back with her heart to renew…

If i won’t do it
it will be forever within me
If i won’t do it
all of me will become dusts
If i won’t do it now
thoughts will be thoughts
till the end of time
I’m writing now
so reflections of me will remain
and linger on anybody’s cognition
So I will be remembered…

Travel – Biliran Province, Philippines

by : Bacardi Gold
20/feb/2021

Biliran is a province that lies less than a kilometer north of Leyte province. A bridge-causeway connects the two provinces. It is located in the Eastern Visayas region (Region VIII) and one of the Philippine’s smallest and newest provinces when it became an independent province on May 11, 1992 through Republic Act 7160.

I arrived at Tacloban, Leyte airport at 7:30 AM from Manila by Air Asia and traveled to Ormoc city by van and took another van for Naval, Biliran. D’Mei Residence Inn was my preferred place to stay for the duration of the trip. As I always do in most of my travels, I always befriend tricycle drivers and rent their motorcycles for the tour and make them as my tour guide/driver-in-one.

Tres Marias Mountain in the distance.

We had to stop for a refueling but there was no gasoline station in sight. No problem, there were bottles of gasoline on the roadside. There was also a roadside vegetable
“garden”.

Finally, Tinago Falls, came into our sight.

No load, no burden on his back…

he smiled at me

opened his palm

walked a few steps towards me

uttered a mouthful of words

as i handed out a twenty peso bill

under his nails the dirt were talking

a blazing smile burst in flames

leaving a sketch of a satisfied being

priceless exhibit of a smile born of a painting

he walked away as his back giggled

with joy in the distance i could tell

his happiness was worth its weight in gold

no load, no burden on his back

just a happy face no room for sadness

like clouds his spirit was lifted

a fool loved by everybody in town

happy go lucky as he is

could i be like him

he’s everybody’s colleague

running errands like a servant

could i be like him

not a single day he wore a frown

not minding how he’ll begin his daily moments

not minding how he’ll end the day’s activities

i could not be him

he could not be me

each has his own destiny…

Chosen

Time has no limit
encircling characters
to be bold and seen
in thoughts that are crowded
with unfamiliar faces

Sometimes visions
of picking an apple
in the lone orchard
of oranges
appears

Ideas,
of fading mental images
take a flight out
and be lost

Other forms and drafts
melting in the cross roads
of empty infinities
grab attention

A tired mind will drain
which among them
has a bulging chance
of being chosen …
