he smiled at me
opened his palm
walked a few steps towards me
uttered a mouthful of words
as i handed out a twenty peso bill
under his nails the dirt were talking
a blazing smile burst in flames
leaving a sketch of a satisfied being
priceless exhibit of a smile born of a painting
he walked away as his back giggled
with joy in the distance i could tell
his happiness was worth its weight in gold
no load, no burden on his back
just a happy face no room for sadness
like clouds his spirit was lifted
a fool loved by everybody in town
happy go lucky as he is
could i be like him
he’s everybody’s colleague
running errands like a servant
could i be like him
not a single day he wore a frown
not minding how he’ll begin his daily moments
not minding how he’ll end the day’s activities
i could not be him
he could not be me
each has his own destiny…
