Biliran is a province that lies less than a kilometer north of Leyte province. A bridge-causeway connects the two provinces. It is located in the Eastern Visayas region (Region VIII) and one of the Philippine’s smallest and newest provinces when it became an independent province on May 11, 1992 through Republic Act 7160.

I arrived at Tacloban, Leyte airport at 7:30 AM from Manila by Air Asia and traveled to Ormoc city by van and took another van for Naval, Biliran. D’Mei Residence Inn was my preferred place to stay for the duration of the trip. As I always do in most of my travels, I always befriend tricycle drivers and rent their motorcycles for the tour and make them as my tour guide/driver-in-one.

Tres Marias Mountain in the distance.

We had to stop for a refueling but there was no gasoline station in sight. No problem, there were bottles of gasoline on the roadside. There was also a roadside vegetable
“garden”.

Finally, Tinago Falls, came into our sight.
