I prayed that my heart-in-pain and Valentines won’t coincide…

a friend saw you yesterday
you looked so gorgeous
you were in a hurry
when you flagged down a yellow taxi

i thought you were at home busy
on the phone, promised on leaving early
we’ll have a date to watch a movie
but your word was a trick and half-empty

we’re supposed to meet at the cinema’s lobby
guests in pairs, i felt the envy
five agonizing hours i have waited
precious moments have been waisted

didn’t show up at the agreed time
i really thought that you were mine
to learn from our friends which i hate
you’ve gone with someone on a date

the truth hurts deep inside
though i really prayed so hard last night
that my heart-in-pain and valentines won’t coincide
i’ll sleep my nights and let the tides of anger subside

i have delivered hearts
to where they ought to be
to places i haven’t gone
bringing those hearts with me

running errands all around
looking for the hearts’ addresses
in the city thousands abound
and i’m feeling i’m not really hopeless

nights have been so sleepy
thinking about the heart’s beating
is it sad today or feeling happy
i guess it’s in the mode of resting

valentines is so near
and i can’t find a heart to pair
come with me let’s have a date
and let our hearts start the dare…

Could you be my Valentine?

as i sit alone on my bed
thinking about the days that passed
it’s been three days after we’ve met
felt like three years have already gone past

since the day i asked for your name
your smile was just unforgettable
Angel as you are called by friends
the feeling was just unexplainable

our parting words then, “see you in a week”
but i had hoped it could be sooner and quick
feeling a bit romantic here on my bed
i kissed your number in my CP where i kept

tomorrow is the day for us to meet
ready to go with some cash saved in my pocket
i practiced the lines the way i will greet
should i embrace, shake hands, or offer you a seat

i’ve marked the calendar, Sunday the fourteenth
i’m twenty-one and you’re young at nineteen
can you be my date, please don’t decline
it’s the Day of Hearts, “Could you be my Valentine?”
