In other cultures, smiling is perceive as a negative expression and unwelcoming. On the contrary, people who smiles frequently are likable and approachable than non-smilers. Moreover, they can be thought of as more competent, friendly, and attractive.
Smiles can be a pre-laughing action to laughter or it is a response to laughter. It can be used to acknowledge the laughability of a joke or verbal utterances.
It can also be a sign of approval or a concealment for a disapproval. More often than not, people smile to hide some less than happy feelings. In any case, smile is far more sinister. But the most common smiles by people are displayed on their faces when they are in genuine feelings of pleasure and giddy happiness. It is long and intense with “twinkling eyes”.
There are other smiles that are difficult to classify but it can be observed on people who are trying a concealment while experiencing emotions of distress or a threat whether real or imagined, being miserable, embarrassed, dampened,etc.
But one smile that sometimes are on view on our beautiful faces. We can easily spot a fake smile by simply looking to the eyes. It is accompanied with greetings – and we’re used to politely lying about our true feelings – saying, we’re fine, even when we’re not – with these expressions fixed on our faces.
